Nursery Rug

Evan's rug for his room came today! I love it! I ordered it online without seeing it in person and the paint color we are doing matches perfect!

Starting my 24th week!!

Evan is growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at about 1 1/3 pounds. Since he's almost a foot long (about the size of an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.
Here's a peek at what he looks like inside.....

Pregnancy is so fascinating!!! I love to learn what is going on with him each week!

Registries are Complete!

We have finally completed all of our registries! It was quite an experience at Buy Buy Baby! All the strollers, car seats, and gear to choose from, research, compare, etc. It was a bit overwhelming to say the least. But I think we did a good job picking out the right stuff for us that we will use.

We are registered at Buy Buy Baby, Restoration Hardware Baby and Child, and Pottery Barn Kids! This info is also posted on the Shower and Info page and new bump photos have been added to the My Bump page too!

Getting things together!!

Today I worked on Evan's closet and sorting through his clothes for the first 12 months to take inventory I what I still need. I got things hung up and I'm starting the washing of his tiny clothes!! I love looking at all his little man clothes. It's so fun!

I also got his bassinet put together. Thanks to our neighbors Jim and Cathy McCarthy for the skirting and bedding from Pottery Barn kids!! It's adorable

No Sleeping Beauty

Well I knew this would happen soon, my growing belly is becoming harder to get comfortable when sleeping. I roll from side to side trying to find the right position but neither are comfortable. I try my back for a bit to give my achy sides a break and then Evan starts kicking so I gotta roll to a side to try and sleep. I've got pillows flying all over the place trying to stuff them around me for support. I got the huge Boppy body pillow and I'm trying to maneuver that around in bed, which can be cumbersome.

Poor Josh can't win because when I'm rolling around and moving pillows it wakes him up, and if I do finally dose off I snore he tells me and keep him awake! I think I got 2-3 hours of sleep last night. So thankful I don't have to work all day. If I need to, I can take a nap....well if I can get comfortable! Ha!

Hopefully, tonight will be better when we are back home in our own bed. We have been gone the last two nights in a hotel. It's never the same. Before this week though I was sleeping like a champ! I hope to get back to that.

It's Official! His Name is......

After a great deal of thought and deliberation, we have decided that our son will be named Evan Michael Masariu. We decided upon Evan because of what it means to us. Evan is a Welch name that means God is Gracious and we truly feel that he is a blessing to us! What is great about Evan is that it is also a derivative of John! Josh's Grandfather was John Francis, Josh's Father is John Michael and Evan is, in a unique way, sticking with that theme. When we looked at these two great factors, Evan became the perfect name for our little miracle!

We cannot wait to welcome Evan in October!

Love,

Mom and Dad

Bebe Nursery

I am heading to Houston, TX today to visit my girlfriend Angie and finally meet her son, Royce! Cant wait! We plan to do some shopping for the nursery! I'm excited to see the furniture in person instead of online.

We have decided on a Vintage Paris theme nursery in honor of his first trip and baby moon!:) The colors will be soft baby blue, French grey, and off white. We snagged some cool prints to hang on the wall when we were in Paris. I just need to frame them.

I'm hoping to find a vintage carousel rocking horse for his room for a decent price then what I'm seeing online. Wish me luck! :)

Shopping!!!

I hit a great baby garage sale this morning in Carmel. I could have kept buying but I stopped myself! I left with three bags stuffed full of 0-9 months clothes. All in great shape and some of it has never worn! I spent $40 for all of it and I even got his first wet suit for the lake!!!

Then I stopped in Marshall's and found some great deals on Polo, Puma, and Calvin Klein clothes as well. The little clothes you get to buy the first year are the most fun. They are so small and cute!
It was a fun and successful day of shopping!:)

Don't be so sensitive!

Sun sensitive that is! So I have learned the hard way that when you are pregnant the hormones can heighten your sensitivity to the sun.

Yesterday my Sister and I went to the pool for a few hours while my nephews swam and I put on my normal sunblock which isn't much on my legs really because they never get tan. I put 15 SPF on my shoulders and chest and 45 SPF on my face. I think I was outside for 4 hours.

When I came in to get cleaned up I had no idea how burnt I had gotten. My chest, shoulders, belly and legs were fried!! That isn't normal for me. So I looked it up and sure enough your more sensitive to sunlight during pregnancy. I didn't even think to ask. Well now I know!

I've been slathering on the creams and oils. Hopefully the burning goes away tomorrow. :(

First Nursery item...

I am heading to Houston on Sunday to visit my girlfriend Angie and we are going shopping for the nursery!! First stop is Restoration Hardware Baby and Child and then a few boutiques in Houston. I'm excited!!!

We can't wait to show you all his room when it's done!!

I felt him move!!!!

This morning laying in bed, I reached over and put my hand on Timnah's belly and sure enough, I felt out little miracle move! It was so amazing! I can just imagine him in there, moving around and rubbing his little eyes and kicking his feet, probably wanting Mommy to get up and feed him.....it's really awesome.

Since finding out we are having a little boy, life's speed seems to have picked up even more. There's all of a sudden there is a lot to do! We have literally zero nursery done and that's quite a project that Mommy is spearheading full steam ahead. I thought she had alot of ideas for decorating this house.....you can't imagine for our little one's nursery. We have classes to schedule, strollers and pack and plays to research and buy, clothes to accumulate. (By the way--to our friends Andreza and Scott--thank you for all the adorable clothes! Especially the sunglasses!)

I am so happy that we are having a boy. I honestly was surprised when we cut the cake. As I laid down that knife, I thought I was going to see pink, but was shocked when blue showed up. We feel very blessed that so far that he and mommy are doing so well. It wouldn't matter if it was a girl, so long as she was healthy too. But there's obviously a part of me that's extra excited that a little Masariu Man is on the way. Now the seemingly impossible task of naming this little wonder is upon us. We have about 3-5 names that we really like and we are so funny about how we decide. We say them like he's introducing himself to an adult, like we are yelling for him in the house to come to dinner, like we are playing with him as a baby, like we are mad at him (we use the middle name there), like the announcer at the high school football game is saying his name after a 80 yard touchdown catch, like he's a man and introducing himself to clients.....it's just hilarious.

Thank you all for the love and support and all the well wishes to Timnah as she embarks on this new chapter in her life. We are so excited about her new role and our new family. Lots to do in the next few months--we'll keep ya posted!

Love,

Daddy
